About Us

The M/V TAZ is a 45-foot aluminum, high-speed, diesel, passenger vessel. U.S. Coast Guard approved and certified to carry 23 passengers, The TAZ handles the waters of Icy Strait and surrounding waters with ease. Very stable, with large windows and a comfortable heated interior, it's great for wildlife viewing, from both inside and outside on the deck.

The TAZ is ideal for many services, and is Alaska-owned and operated by Tod and Margaret Sebens. Our on-board naturalist provides excellent information on every tour.

We offer morning and afternoon excursions into Southeast Alaska's fabulous Humpback whale feeding grounds. Icy Strait and Point Adolphus (near Glacier Bay), are world-famous for the gathering of these gentle giants. Their unique feeding techniques, vocalizations and acrobatics make every tour unforgettable.

Join us for a great opportunity to see Humpback whales, Minke whales, Orcas (killer whales), Stellar sea lions, Sea otters, Dall and Harbor porpoises, Bald Eagles, Puffins, and a wide variety of other shore birds.

The TAZ can provide rapid transport services for fishing lodges, camps, private groups, communities, and special events — including Weddings with the Whales!

We also specialize in working with large groups of kayakers. Our spacious deck enables The TAZ to easily handle your entire group, boats and gear! We'll maneuver The TAZ into sheltered areas, and then water drop-off and pick-up your group in a single transfer. We can also provide shuttle service using our skiff – whatever it takes to get you kayaking!
